Welcome to
the
Mechanical Engineering Department home page.
The
Mechanical Engineering Department is a structuring unit of the School
of Engineering at the University of Minho. Its mission is the
development of the core scientific areas in Mechanical Engineering
through three vectors: teaching at both graduate and post graduate
levels; research and development; partnership with the industry.
Its main teaching project is the Mechanical Engineering Integrated MSc.
In addition, other projects are of the utmost relevance: Biomedical
Engineering and Materials Engineering Integrated MSc’s. All these
projects are structured accordingly to the guidelines established by
the Bologna Protocol.
The
research activities are supported by the research center funded by
the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT): CT2M. Furthermore, two other
specifically targeted projects are embedded in the Department: The
Center for Residue Valorization (CVR) and the Network for Bioenergy (CEBio).
Finally, the Chemical Analysis Laboratory is fully accredited by the
IPAC.
